Going On That Job Interview

Once you have sent your resume out the second step in getting that job that you want is acing the interview. This can be nerve wracking since they are different than the interviews you went through for any high school retail job. This stage in getting that job you want can make all the difference in world on whether or not you get this job or not. The potential employer is already impressed with your resume now it is time to impress them with yourself. Here are some tips on how to do well in an interview.

1 Always dress the part. Never go into an interview with jean, Tshirts or sneakers. For women looking for a job if you like to wear skirts, make sure that they are knee length and they are not form fitting. Remember you want to look as professional as possible. When it comes to getting a job sex appeal may not work here. You want to wear a nice skirt, try to keep the color professional such as black, blue or brown. Wear a matching shirt, it can be a nice button down or a nice sweater, keep them plain as well. Try to keep your heels to a minimum especially if you like high highs. You want to look together and professional and not like a fashionista.

For men you want to wear a nice pair of dark dress pants. You can choose an entire suit with a jacket look but keep the suit a dark color like blue or black. Pick a pair of dress shoes and no sneakers or boots. You are basically dressing to impress here.

2 Always bring a second copy of your resume with you. It looks professional and it is a reminder to them that you are serious about the job. Try to bring a folder and not just bring in the resume free handed. You may also asked to fill out an application while you are there, so after you are done with the application attach the resume with it. So when the receptionist brings the application into the employer the resume will be there with it.

3
Always be on time! Try to be there 15 minutes before the time your interview was scheduled for. You may not the only person being interviewed that day so you want to make a good impression of being on time.

4 Never bring coffee to an interview. So people stop for coffee or something before an interview and they think it is trendy to bring a Starbucks cup into an interview. It is not, it is not acceptable. You want to concentrate on the interview and not on your coffee.

5
Answer the questions asked. Stay on track and try to not to give longwinded answers. You want to show the employer that you can do what is asked of you.

Remember stay calm and try not to be nervous, you want to be confident in your answers and not all over the place. The most important thing is to be honest. You will be surprised at how far you get.
