"The awards of L'Oréal Polska for Women in Science with support from the Polish Committee for UNESCO are a local initiative. The source of inspiration was the agreement signed in Paris between the Group of L'Oréal and UNESCO +For Women in Science+. Under the agreement, each year in Paris UNESCO headquarters, outstanding young women scientists and PhD students from five continents receive financial awards and fellowships" - said Maria Majdrowicz.

Over 12 years the prizes were awarded to 67 outstanding women researchers from 30 countries and 165 young women from 81 countries received international fellowships. Local Polish program has become a model for other countries. Currently it is conducted by tens of L'Oréal branches. (PAP)
