Polish universities want to educate students from China

Seven Polish universities formed the Michael Boym consortium in order to promote academic courses chosen among Chinese students. Spokeswoman of Tischner European University, Barbara Całka announced that the consortium currently consists of seven public and private universities. It is open to other colleges that wish to join.

"The main objective is to enable Chinese to study in Poland through the development of Polish-Chinese curricula, as well as by credible, direct recruitment of candidates for studies in Poland" - explained Całka.

She noted tat observation and analysis of several years of attempts of several Polish universities to enter Chinese educational market demonstrates that Polish universities acting individually are unable to succeed in this country, and the methods of promotion and recruitment of candidates for studies in Poland to date have not produced significant results.

The consortium currently consists of seven universities, both public and private: Tischner European University in Krakow, Kozminski University in Warsaw, University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, Łódź University of Technology, and the University of Łódź.

Eligible to join are other institutions, which bring to the joint offer package two courses in English, where Chinese students will be able to study.

The consortium plans to establish Polish-Chinese higher education school in China, which is currently allowed by Chinese regulations.
Project parton, Michał Boym, was a Polish orientalist and Jesuit. He was a missionary in China in the sixteenth century.
