Londoners were given a chilling message when a team of north London animation students brought Euston Road to life, projecting scenes from the Arctic onto a building and raising awareness of climate change as part of a Greenpeace project.
The team of four from Middlesex University joined students from other institutions in having their work displayed on the Friends House on the busy Euston Road. State-of-the-art projection technology was used to bring the building to life with the powerful animations capturing the beauty and vulnerability of the Arctic landscape.
Giant polar bears, arctic owls and other frozen scenes were projected onto the building, all created and designed by the team of students. It was part of a day of action for Greenpeace, who asked the Middlesex students to create the animations.
MSc Creative Technologies student Daniel Wiedemann (27), who lives in Golders Green, said: “It was fun and exciting to be a part of this project. It was really cool to see people who were into the project and enjoyed seeing the animations.”
Another MSc Creative Technologies student Alex Boyce (23), from Hackney, said: “I’m proud of what I produced and it was great to work with such a high profile organisations as Greenpeace.”
The animations and messages will now be sent to the influential Arctic Council, who will be meeting next month to discuss the fragile environment.
