There are not that many programs that fall out of the Bachelor -
Master structure. Those are basically the programs in some study fields -
such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and veterinary medicine - leading
to a degree in regulated professions.
Firstly, there are many regulations and standards that have to be
taken into account and secondly the professional/vocational
associations are very involved in their governance and are rather
reluctant to changes due to the high risk of diminished/ less
transparent through introduced changes - level of quality.
Many of the programs include an internship period.
The qualification obtained after completing any of these study
programmes (six or seven years except internship period) is equated to
Master's degree, according to Latvian legislation.
Admissions requirements are similar as of the typical Bachelor programme.
